From Formspring: Are there any human birth defects or diseases can carry over when a human becomes a vampire?

I haven't really thought about that much. I would assume that the regeneration ability granted by the transformation would heal the body up to the limits of it's ability. For example: vampires can't regenerate limbs, so someone without an arm who becomes a vampire wouldn't grow a new one. In contrast, any diseases they had, from the flu to AIDS, would be cured.

I'll say that it depends on the birth defect. Remember that this isn't a natural virus: it's a demonic virus introduced to humanity by creatures from the Void. It can be unpredictable, because it comes from a place of complete chaos. It isn't even possible to predict who will be susceptible to the virus.
